This piece is a reflection of my time in Japan, and draws inspiration from two powerful symbols: the swan and the koi.
In Japan, swans are revered for their purity and grace. The koi, with its deep cultural significance, embodies perseverance and ambition through the ancient Legend of the Dragon Gate.
This myth recounts how a determined koi, after an upstream swim, is transformed into a dragon. This piece explores the interplay of these themes—grace, determination, and the potential for profound transformation in life's journey.
(Inspired by Philippe Wolfers' 1901 Swan pendant.)
