STEP 1: DESIGN
Painting the
Digital Canvas
My journey begins in Adobe Illustrator, where I design the drawing and line work that forms the foundation of each sculpture. This initial stage encompasses everything from sketching and gathering inspiration to the process of crafting a complete digital design.
Each drawing is composed of up to twenty distinct layers, which will eventually transform into the individual wooden components of the finished piece. This the most time-intensive phase that can take from days to several weeks.
